When Tea and Tyler started planning their wedding, they knew they wanted the best of both worlds: an intimate elopement in nature and a big celebration with family and friends. A few days before their reception, they tied the knot in the breathtaking North Cascades. Their stunning ceremony was following by gathering their loved ones at THE 101 in Seattle for a heartfelt reception filled with family traditions, DIY décor, and personal touches.
A Family Affair with DIY Details
To keep everything running smoothly, Tea and Tyler worked with 828 Planning for day-of coordination. Having a professional on site made all the difference, allowing the couple and their families to truly enjoy the day without stress, while still bringing their DIY vision to life.
One of the standout aspects of Tea and Tyler’s wedding was the incredible amount of love and effort poured into the décor. Tea’s mom took the lead on designing and creating most of the wedding details herself, giving the entire space a deeply personal feel. Three faux floral arch backdrops anchored the celebration: one for the sweetheart table, one framing the seating chart, and one for the photo booth.
A massive seating chart display, handcrafted by family, welcomed guests as they entered. Faux floral centerpieces, designed and arranged by Tea’s mom, brought each table to life. The welcome table was especially meaningful, featuring a photo display honoring loved ones who had passed, alongside a faux floral arrangement and disposable cameras so guests could capture candid moments throughout the night.
Sweet Serbian Traditions
Honoring heritage was important to the couple, and traditional Serbian desserts were served as a nod to Tea’s background. Guests got to enjoy sweet treats that carried meaning far beyond the wedding day, weaving family culture into the celebration.
Fun Extras That Elevated the Night
Tea and Tyler booked a sparkler exit through THE 101, which created a magical send-off moment for them and their guests. They also added THE 101’s photo booth, which paired perfectly with their floral backdrop for fun, memory-filled snapshots.
Life, Love, and Moving Out of State
Even though Tea and Tyler live out of state—Tyler’s family runs a business that moved them away from Washington—they knew Seattle was the right place to celebrate their marriage. Their reception at THE 101 brought everyone together in one place, blending family, friends, and tradition into a joyful night that perfectly reflected their journey.
